UNI standards are protected by Digital Rights Management (DRM): to view\/download them You will\u00a0need to install\u00a0Acrobat Reader\u00a0and the\u00a0FileOpen plug-in\u00a0both available for free. Proper installation of the plugin can be verified downloading the\u00a0test document.<br \/>\n Download troubleshooting guide<br \/>\nWhen the document is opened for the first time, the DRM system verifies the customer access privileges on the UNI server. During this test the computer must be connected to Internet. The privileges will be saved locally on the computer and will be valid for the time period set by the DRM system.<br \/>\nAs long as the local privileges are valid, the customer can use the document on his\/her computer even when he\/she is not connected to Internet. Upon expiry of the local privileges, the DRM system will make a new check on the UNI server. Is required that the computer is connected to Internet to check the privileges: it will not possible to use the document until the privileges are renewed by the UNI server.<br \/>\n Please note: we recommend that you save the document to your computer before opening it, to avoid saving the document in a hidden temporary folder.<br \/>\nA document protected by DRM can be used only on the computer \/ device on which it was opened for the first time. The DRM prevents to open the same document on another computer, such as a network server. Before opening a document, make sure you saved it on the computer on which the document will be used.<br \/>\nHow to install FileOpen<br \/>\nTo use a standard encrypted with FileOpen you need to install Adobe Reader version 6 or higher and the FileOpen plugin.<br \/>\n Adobe Acrobat Reader DC is supported only on Windows and Mac (OS X v10.9 and above): make sure the latest version of the plugin has been installed, from the Fileopen site.<br \/>\nFor installation on Mac or mobile platforms, please refer to the\u00a0troubleshooting guide.<br \/>\nIn Windows environment, please follow these installation instructions:<\/p>\n<p>Make sure you have Administrator grants to install new software on the device where you want to use the standards.<br \/>\nInstall Adobe Reader.<br \/>\nCheck the\u00a0minimum system requirements\u00a0and install the\u00a0FileOpen plugin.<br \/>\nVerify the installation of the Acrobat Reader plugin: open the Acrobat Reader menu &#8220;Help&gt; About Plugins from other manufacturers&#8221; and verify that the &#8220;FileOpen client&#8221; item is present.<br \/>\nCheck the plugin installation by downloading the test document.<br \/>\nWe recommend that you save the document to your computer before opening it, to avoid saving the document in a hidden temporary folder.<\/p>\n<p>How to view standards<br \/>\nOpen the document with the device on which you want to use it.<br \/>\nWhen you open the document for the first time, your computer must be connected to Internet to check the customer privileges on the UNI web server.<br \/>\nMacintosh devices open documents with a native tool. To force document opening in Acrobat, select &#8220;OpenWith&#8221; in the document menu. As an alternative, select &#8220;GetInfo&#8221; in the document menu and set the &#8220;OpenWith&#8221; property to &#8220;Acrobat Reader&#8221;.<br \/>\nFor Chrome version 56.x.x.x (and above) type &#8220;chrome:\/\/settings\/content&#8221; in the address bar of Chrome and mark the option &#8220;Open PDFs using a different application&#8221; and then restart Chrome.<br \/>\nIf you use Chrome as your default browser, you must disable document opening in the browser: Type &#8220;chrome:\/\/plugins\/&#8221; in the address bar of Chrome and select &#8220;Off&#8221; in the Chrome PDF Viewer checkbox.<br \/>\n If you use Adobe Reader X, select Preferences&gt; General and disable &#8220;Enable protected mode at startup&#8221;.<br \/>\n If\u00a0you use Adobe Reader 11, make sure to install the latest version of the plug-in available on the FileOpen site.<br \/>\n If you upgrade to a new version of Acrobat Reader it could be necessary to reinstall the FileOpen plugin. If this is the case, make sure that you have previously removed the old version of the plugin.<br \/>\nSome companies restricts access to internet sites. Please, check with your IT adminisrator that you can access http:\/\/store.uni.com on port 80 and 443.<br \/>\n Check also that your internet connection supports\u00a0TLS 1.0\u00a0protocol.<br \/>\nHow to use a document encrypted with FileOpen<br \/>\n 1. What is a DRM system?<br \/>\nDRM (Digital Rights Management) systems allow copyright holders to enforce and manage their rights in the digital environment. DRM systems protect, identify and track electronic documents, to prevent copying and other unauthorized uses.<br \/>\nFileOpen DRM is a secure and easy to use tool, compatible with Acrobat Reader, version 6 or above.<br \/>\n 2. Can I print a standard encrypted with FileOpen?<br \/>\nEncrypted standards can be printed, without limitations on the number of printings. It is possible to use the copy and paste function in compliance with the provisions of copyright, law 22 April 1941 N. 633 and updates Actions taken on a encrypted document are tracked by the FileOpen plugin, in order to detect and prevent improper use of the documents.<br \/>\n 3. Can I email an encrypted standard or save it on an external device?<br \/>\nIt&#8217;s possible to send a document by email or to save a copy. Please note that the document can only be used on the device on which it is opened for the first time.
