{"id":902,"date":"2022-11-21T13:22:59","date_gmt":"2022-11-21T12:22:59","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/www.uni.com\/normazione\/innovazione\/"},"modified":"2026-04-28T15:11:11","modified_gmt":"2026-04-28T13:11:11","slug":"innovation","status":"publish","type":"page","link":"https:\/\/www.uni.com\/en\/standardisation\/innovation\/","title":{"rendered":"Innovation"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>Home   Standardization       <\/p>\n<p>Innovation<br \/>\n\u201cDiscovery consists of seeing what everyone has seen and thinking what no one else has thought.\u201d &#8211; Albert Szent-Gy\u00f6rgyi <\/p>\n<p>Innovation at UNI<br \/>\n     Standardisation rhymes with innovation<br \/>\nStandardisation fosters innovation because it helps disseminate new products and technological solutions by opening up new markets and strengthening the relationship between business and the research world.<\/p>\n<p>Reference practices <\/p>\n<p>When the standard<br \/>\nit&#8217;s not there yet<br \/>\nReference Practices (PdRs) introduce technical prescriptions or sectoral application models of specific standards when there are no national, European or international standards or draft standards.<br \/>\nThey may contain good practices already in use in citizen\/consumer services, sectoral applications of existing specifications, industry specifications, protocols for the management of proprietary brands, locally tested management models, nationally adopted CWAs.<\/p>\n<p>         Regulations for the development of reference practices (italian) <\/p>\n<p>     Development of practices<br \/>\nReference practices are elaborated on the basis of a rapid sharing process among authors only, which does not exceed 9 months. They arise around Tables set up and managed by UNI.<\/p>\n<p>Framework<br \/>\nVerification of the existing normative context, political-strategic assessment, identification of experts <\/p>\n<p>Contract<br \/>\nFormalisation of the contract with the proposer, definition of details <\/p>\n<p>Start of work<br \/>\nDissemination of information, gathering of stakeholder interest, kick-off meeting <\/p>\n<p>Elaboration<br \/>\nElaboration of the document and approval by the Table <\/p>\n<p>Public consultation<br \/>\nCollection of comments and finalisation of the document <\/p>\n<p>Publication<br \/>\nRatification and publication of the document <\/p>\n<p>Discover the practices<br \/>\n                The reference practices are disseminated free of charge and, after a period of experimental application, can be transformed into a normative document or withdrawn.<br \/>\n                Go to the store<\/p>\n<p>Propose your idea<br \/>\n                Are you interested in promoting your innovative solutions in the market, shortening the distance to competitors and maximising economic and social benefits?<br \/>\n                Contact us<\/p>\n<p>Reference Practices under development<br \/>\n                UNI is always working to develop new Reference Practices, collaborating with different stakeholders to define the first draft. <\/p>\n<p>                Discover more<\/p>\n<p>Reference Practices in consultation<br \/>\n                After the first draft of the Reference Practice has been developed, you can consult the document for one month and submit your comments via the available form.<br \/>\n                Discover more<\/p>\n<p>CWA <\/p>\n<p>CEN Workshop Agreement<br \/>\nCEN Workshop Agreements (CWAs) are experimental technical documents developed rapidly with the discussion and contribution of all interested parties, with the same mechanisms of transparency and consensus as in voluntary standardisation. They are therefore particularly suitable for sharing innovative know-how and quickly transferring the results of Research and Innovation projects to the market.<\/p>\n<p>         Download some CWA examples for free (italian)<br \/>\n         CEN-CENELEC Guide 29, which contains the CWA development procedure (italian) <\/p>\n<p>     The elaboration of CWA<br \/>\nCWAs are elaborated by a CEN Workshop (CEN\/WS), whose Project Plan (PP) contains the background information, scope and objectives of the proposed CWA, work programme and potential stakeholders.<\/p>\n<p>Preparation<br \/>\nDrafting of PP containing all information  <\/p>\n<p>Kick-off<br \/>\nKick-off meeting and approval of the PP <\/p>\n<p>Development<br \/>\nElaboration of the document and possible Public Inquiry <\/p>\n<p>Adoption<br \/>\nApproval of the document by CEN\/WS  <\/p>\n<p>Publication<br \/>\nBy the CEN member standardisation bodies <\/p>\n<p>Validity and verification<br \/>\nVerification of validity in the first 3 years of application <\/p>\n<p>The european projects<br \/>\n     Research &amp; Innovation Projects<br \/>\nTogether with large companies, SMEs, start-ups, universities, research centres, institutions, UNI participates in Research &amp; Innovation projects funded at regional, national and European level. Its role is to support project activities and partners. How?<\/p>\n<p>                By facilitating knowledge dissemination, technology transfer, co-design and promoting market understanding of research results <\/p>\n<p>                By helping to set the context for new emerging markets and meeting legal requirements <\/p>\n<p>                Reducing the timing of innovation diffusion, increasing market exchange and enabling interoperability between new and old products\/parts (and thus also between technologies) <\/p>\n<p>                Creating relationships &#8211; networking &#8211; with customers, competitors, suppliers, regulators, consumers\/users  <\/p>\n<p>                Promoting the acceptability of innovation to customers, public procurers and consumer confidence <\/p>\n<p>     Ongoing Horizon Projects<br \/>\n Horizon Europe is the world&#8217;s largest transnational research and innovation programme. It is the European Union&#8217;s Framework Programme for Research and Innovation for the period 2021-2027 (the successor to Horizon 2020), with a total budget of EUR 95.5 billion. The programme finances research and innovation activities &#8211; or R&amp;I support &#8211; with the aim of:<\/p>\n<p>strengthen the Union&#8217;s scientific and technological basis and promote its competitiveness in all Member States.<br \/>\nImplement the Union&#8217;s strategic priorities and contribute to the realisation of European policies, helping to address the global challenges of our time, set out in the Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs) of the United Nations 2030 Agenda and the Paris Climate Agreement.<br \/>\nStrengthening the European research area.<\/p>\n<p>Participation in the Framework Programme is also open to third countries, such as Georgia, Norway, New Zealand, Tunisia and Turkey.<br \/>\n&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p>            SARAH &#8211; It mainly focuses on the following activities:<br \/>\nimproving the functioning of the internal market through measures such as better market surveillance, supporting citizens and businesses in solving problems, and enhancing competition policy;<\/p>\n<p>strengthening the competitiveness of businesses, especially small and medium-sized enterprises (SMEs);<br \/>\ndeveloping effective European and international standards in financial and non-financial reporting and auditing;<br \/>\nensuring even greater protection for consumers;<br \/>\nmaintaining a high level of food safety;<br \/>\nproducing and disseminating high-quality statistics;<\/p>\n<p>This programme is promoted by EISMEA, the European Commission&#8216;s executive agency responsible for implementing EU programmes dedicated to innovation, SMEs, the single market and standardisation.
